Running the report
Report options
Select a start date
The first day to include. The default is today. The report starts at your store's close-of-trade time on that day.
end date
The last day to include. The default is today. The report runs until your store's close-of-trade time on the day after this date, so the whole trading day is covered.
Manufactured stock item filter
Choose which manufactured item to look at. Only items that are set up as manufactured items, and that are not archived, are listed, in alphabetical order with the item code in brackets where it has one.
Select your stock costing model
Decides which cost is used for every value on the report. The list shows your brand's method and, only when your store has chosen a different one, your store's method as well. The first entry is the default.
The report at a glance
The dates show the trading days covered. If your store closes its trading day after midnight, the end time shows that close-of-trade time on the following day and an asterisk (*) points to a note about trading days in the footer. A batch counts on the date and time it was made, not the time it was posted.
- Batch details: every posted batch, with its recipe ingredients and cost.
- Stock created and stock used: a summary page of what was made and what went into it.
- Archived batch alert: a red note when batches in the period were archived.
Below the header a Selected parameters panel repeats the item you chose (MANUFACTURED ITEMS) and the costing model (STOCK COSTING MODEL), so a printed copy always shows how it was run.
Batch details
Batches are listed in the order they were made. Each one starts with the item's name, then the batch's own details, the ingredients it used and a total.

1 Item heading and batch figures
The item's name and unit of measure sit at the top. On the batch line, # Batches is how many batches were made, Yield / batch is how much each batch produces and Qty made is the total produced. Value is what that stock is worth under the costing model you chose. When the same item is made more than once in the period, each batch gets its own block, in time order, so the item heading can repeat.
2 Recipe ingredients
Every ingredient the batch used, with the quantity and its cost. Underlined ingredient names are click-through links that open the Stock Item Audit report for that ingredient.
3 Unit price
The value divided by the quantity made: what one unit of your manufactured item cost you. If a batch has no quantity recorded, the unit price shows 0.
4 Total cost
The cost of all the ingredients in the batch, added up.
5 Discards
Shown only for batches that have had some of their stock discarded. It adds up every discard recorded against that batch, with the quantity and the value. Click it to open the Discards report. Batches with no discards show nothing here.
- Batch ref
- The reference captured when the batch was recorded.
- Posted by
- The person who posted the batch. It shows Unknown if that person can no longer be found.
- Notes
- Any note typed when the batch was recorded.
Stock created and stock used
The last page adds everything up under the heading Net stock movement: Stock created on the left and Stock used on the right.
| Stock created | Stock used | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Item | Qty | Value | Item | Qty | Cost |
| Burger Sauce - kg | 15.000 | 367.50 | Cake Flour - kg | -8.000 | -96.00 |

Stock created lists each manufactured item with the total quantity made and its value. Stock used lists each ingredient with the total quantity used and its cost, shown with a minus sign because it leaves your stock. Both lists count every posted batch in the period and leave out archived batches.
Archived batch alert
If any batches made in the period were archived, a red Alert: lists how many batches of each item were archived, followed by a reminder that archived and unposted manufacturing activities are left out of this report and are not included in the variance and gross profit calculations. Archived batches do not appear in the batch details or in the stock created and stock used totals.

Frequently asked questions
A batch I made is not on the report. Why?
Check four things. The batch must be posted: batches that were never posted are left out. It must not be archived: archived batches are listed in the red alert but not in the details. Its Made at date time must fall inside your dates (the report goes by when the batch was made, not when it was posted). And if you chose a single item in Manufactured stock item filter, only that item is shown.
Why does the same item appear several times?
Batches are listed in the order they were made, and each batch gets its own heading. If you made Burger Sauce on Monday, Pizza Dough on Tuesday and Burger Sauce again on Wednesday, you see the Burger Sauce heading twice. The last page adds each item up into one line.
Why is the batch Value not exactly the same as the Total cost?
They should normally agree, because a batch is valued at what went into it. A small difference can come from rounding to the cent, or from ingredient costs being recalculated after the batch was posted.
Why do my values change when I pick a different costing model?
Each costing model (FIFO, WAC and LC) values the same stock differently. Only the money figures change; quantities, batches and discards are identical.
Why do I only see a discard line on some batches?
The discard line only appears for batches that have had stock discarded from them. It adds up every discard recorded against that batch, whenever the discard happened. To see the individual discards, click the line to open the Discards report.
Why is the person shown as Unknown?
The batch was posted by someone who can no longer be found in your system. The batch itself, its ingredients and its value are still counted in full.
Which time zone and trading day does the report use?
Your store's local time and its close-of-trade time. A trading day that closes after midnight includes the early hours of the next calendar day. A batch made exactly at the closing time counts towards the next trading day, so it is never counted twice on two reports.
