Report options
Select your start date / end date
The first and last trading day to include. Your store's close of trade time is used, so a sale after midnight but before close of trade counts towards the previous trading day. Both default to today.
Show sales figures
Whether every rand figure on the report includes or excludes VAT (value-added tax or your country's equivalent sales tax). Your brand chooses which one is the default: it's always first in the list, marked (Brand default), and already selected when you open the report. If your brand has chosen exclusive, the list reads Exclusive (Brand default) and Inclusive.
Choose Inclusive to compare with your cash-ups, which count the money customers actually paid. Choose Exclusive to look at your sales without the VAT you pay over to your tax authority. The line under the date, the Turnover and Sale payment headings and the totals all tell you which one you're looking at, for example Turnover (incl VAT).
The report at a glance
The dates are trading days in your store's local time. If your store's close of trade is not midnight, the line ends with an *, the period runs from close of trade on the first day to close of trade after the last day, and a note at the foot of the page explains it.
- Totals: total turnover, number of transactions and the overall average sale.
- Channels, devices and types: Sales channel, Device type (left column) and Transaction type (right column).
- Date, day and hour: Hour of day, Day of week (left) and Date (right).
- Cashiers and packaging: Cashier name (right) and Packaging type (left).
- Payment type: what your sales were paid with (right column).
- Average sales deviation: every average sale above compared with your overall average.
- Voids note: how much was voided in the period, with a link to the Voids report.
The left column holds Sales channel, Device type, Hour of day, Day of week and Packaging type; the right column holds Date, Cashier name, Transaction type and Payment type. The examples below are one week at Bob's Burgers Times Square, including VAT.
Totals
The headline figures for the whole period.
| Totals | |
|---|---|
| Total turnover (incl VAT): 1 | 84 512.40 |
| # transactions: 2 | 1 236 |
| Overall average transaction size (incl VAT): 3 | 68.38 |
1 Total turnover
The value of every completed sale in the period, after discounts, including or excluding VAT as chosen. Tips are not turnover. Voided sales are left out (see Voids note). In Exclusive mode the same week reads Total turnover (excl VAT): 73 489.04.
2 # transactions
The number of completed sales. Each sale counts once, however many items or payments it had.
3 Overall average transaction size
Total turnover divided by the number of transactions: 84 512.40 รท 1 236 = 68.38. Every average further down is compared with this figure.

Date lists each trading day, oldest first. To fit the page it shows the 10 most recent trading days only. If your period is longer, everything before them is added together on one line, Previous dates, so the table still adds up to the total.
| Day of week | ||||

Day of week adds up every Monday, every Tuesday and so on in the period, Monday first. Over a month you see which day of the week is strongest on average, not a single date. Days are trading days, so a sale at 01:00 on a Saturday morning before a 02:00 close of trade counts as Friday.

| Account - Uber Eats | 23 954.80 | 298 | 80.39 | 28.34% |

| Online payment | 10 741.20 | 126 | 85.25 | 12.71% |
How your sales were paid. The heading reads Sale payment (incl VAT) or (excl VAT) and the table is marked *, with the note Some sales might have more than one payment and they exclude tips. under it.
- Sale payment
- The part of each payment that paid for the sale. Tips and change are taken off, so the column adds up to your turnover.
- # trans
- The number of payments, not sales. A sale paid partly by card and partly in cash counts once under each, which is why this table can have more transactions than the totals.
- Pmnt %
- That payment type's share of the sale payments.
- Account - channel
- Sales put on account and settled later, for example orders paid by a delivery partner, shown per sales channel.
- Unpaid
- Sales still open and unpaid. They're counted in # trans with no payment amount.
Average sales deviation
Every value from the tables above in one list, with its average sale and how far that average is above or below your overall average. It's sorted from the highest average to the lowest and runs in two columns. A few rows from the top and bottom of the example week:
| Average sales deviation % from overall average of R68.38 1 | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Value | Average | % deviation | Value | Average | % deviation |
| Sales channel - Online order | 85.25 | 24.68% | Hour of day - 10 to 11 | 55.54 | -18.77% |
| Device type - Online ordering | 85.25 | 24.68% | Hour of day - 21 to 22 | 51.21 | -25.11% |
| Payment type - Online payment | 85.25 | 24.68% | Payment type - Cash | 46.95 | -31.34% |
| Device type - Kiosk | 82.83 | 21.14% | Transaction type - Staff meal | 10.12 | -85.20% |
1 Reading it
The heading shows your overall average sale (68.38 in the example). % deviation is how far each average is from it: Sales channel - Online order averaged 85.25, which is 24.68 above. A positive figure means bigger sales than usual, a negative figure smaller ones. Use it to spot where customers spend more per visit (a channel, a time of day, a cashier who upsells) and where they spend less.
Voids note
If anything was voided in the period, the end of the report says so:
| Voids note: There are R 245.50 worth of voided invoices for this date range that are not included on this report. Click here to view the voids report for more details. |
Voided sales are never part of the turnover above. Click the note to open the Voids report for the same dates. The voided amount is always shown including VAT; in Exclusive mode the note says so: R 245.50 (including VAT).

Frequently asked questions
Why does Payment type show more transactions than the totals?
It counts payments, not sales. A sale paid with two payment types counts once under each. The rand amounts still add up to your turnover.
Why doesn't Payment type match my cash-up?
First check Show sales figures: in Exclusive mode the payments have VAT taken off, and a cash-up never does. In Inclusive mode this report shows the sale part of each payment, without tips or change, for sales rung up in the period, while a cash-up counts the money in the drawer for the shift, tips included.
Why does a sale at 01:00 show under the previous day?
If your store's close of trade is after midnight, everything before close of trade belongs to the previous trading day. The asterisk on the date line and the note at the foot of the page remind you of this. Hour of day still shows the real clock time.
Where are the older dates?
Date shows the 10 most recent trading days. Everything before them is on one line, Previous dates. Run the report for a shorter period to see those days one by one.
Why are so many sales under Unknown in Cashier name?
Sales that nobody rang up on a till, such as kiosk, online and delivery-partner orders, have no cashier. A sale is also Unknown if the employee who rang it up can't be matched, for example after their employee code was reused by two people.
Why aren't exclusive figures lower than inclusive by exactly the standard VAT rate?
VAT is taken off each sale at the VAT on that sale's own items. Zero-rated items don't change, so a period with some zero-rated sales drops by less than the standard rate.
Why doesn't Total turnover match another sales report?
Check that both use the same dates and the same Show sales figures choice. This report's turnover is what customers were charged after discounts. Reports that show gross sales (before discounts) or that leave out delivery charges will differ, and voided sales are never included.
