Report options
Select start date / end date
The first and last trading day to include. Both default to today. A shift is included when it started inside this period, using your store's close of trade time: if your store closes trade at 02:00, a shift that starts at 01:00 on Tuesday belongs to Monday's trading day. The shift must also have been posted, but it may have been posted later (see Frequently asked questions).
There are no other options. The report always shows all seven sections for your store.
The report at a glance
The dates are trading days in your store's local time. If your store's close of trade is not midnight, the period runs from close of trade on the first day to close of trade after the last day, the line ends with an *, and a note at the foot of every page explains that sales between midnight and close of trade count towards the previous day.
- POS floats and cash to be banked: per shift, the float, the cash counted, the float left in the till and the cash to bank.
- Driver and waiter floats: floats handed out to and paid back by drivers and waiters.
- Employee tips: tips per shift and per employee.
- Good received vouchers (GRV's): deliveries paid for out of the till.
- Petty cash: small purchases paid for out of the till.
- Wages: wages paid out of the till.
- Payment recon: per payment type, what was counted or declared against what the POS recorded.
Every section works the same way: one line per shift (or per entry), grouped under Shift posted date, a Posted on … subtotal after each day and a total for the section at the end. A section with nothing in it for the period is left out. The examples below are Monday 12 October 2026 at Bob's Burgers Times Square.
POS floats and cash to be banked
How much cash each shift should hand over for banking.
| Shift # 1 | Cashier name | Start float | Cash on hand (incl start float) |

1 Shift #
The till number and the shift number on that till, for example 1-101 is shift 101 on till 1. Waiter cashups are listed the same way. The cashier is the person who owned the shift (for a waiter cashup, the waiter).
2 Shift posted date
Shifts are grouped by the day their cashup was posted. A shift that started on Monday but was only posted on Tuesday appears under Tuesday's date.
3 Foreign currency
Foreign notes counted at cashup, listed per currency in that currency (for example $ 20.00, EUR 10.00). They are not converted and not included in Cash to be banked, so bank them separately. There is no subtotal for this column because different currencies can't be added together.
- Start float
- The float the till started the shift with.
- Cash on hand (incl start float)
- All the cash counted in the till at cashup, float included.
- Float carried forward
- Cash left in the till for the next shift. It is shown as a minus because it stays in the store.
- Cash to be banked
- Cash on hand less Float carried forward: 3 271.50 − 500.00 = 2 771.50.
Driver and waiter floats
Cash floats given to drivers or waiters from the till, and floats they paid back.
| Shift # | Cashier name | Description | Driver / waiter name | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shift posted date: 12 Oct 2026 | ||||
| 1-101 | Sam M | Issued to | Joe (driver) | -200.00 |
| 1-101 | Sam M | Received from | Joe (driver) | 200.00 |
| Posted on 12 Oct 2026 subtotal: | 0.00 | |||
| Driver and waiter floats total: | 0.00 | |||
Issued to lines are minus amounts (cash left the till); Received from lines are plus amounts (cash came back). When every float issued was paid back, the total is 0.00. The driver or waiter name is the name typed in at the till when the float was captured.
Employee tips
Tips per shift, per employee.
| Shift # | Employee name | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Shift posted date: 12 Oct 2026 | ||
| 1-101 | Sam M | 45.00 |
| 2-57 | Joe (driver) | 30.00 |
| Posted on 12 Oct 2026 subtotal: | 75.00 | |
| Employee tips total: | 75.00 | |
A tip goes to the driver or waiter assigned to the order; if the order has none, it goes to the cashier who rang up that sale. Card and other non-cash tips always count. A cash tip counts only on an order with a driver or waiter, because a cash tip to a cashier is handed over directly and is never captured on the sale. Tips on voided sales are left out.
Good received vouchers (GRV's)
Deliveries paid for in cash from the till during the shift.
| Shift # | Cashier name | GRV Id | Supplier name | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shift posted date: 12 Oct 2026 | ||||
| 1-101 | Sam M | INV-4471 | Fresh Produce Co | 350.00 |
| 2-57 | Lee K | 88213 | Bakery Supplies | 120.00 |
| Posted on 12 Oct 2026 subtotal: | 470.00 | |||
| GRV's total: | 470.00 | |||
GRV Id is the reference typed in at cashup, usually the supplier's invoice or delivery note number. Use it to match the line to the paperwork.
Petty cash
Small purchases paid for in cash from the till.
| Shift # | Cashier name | Description | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shift posted date: 12 Oct 2026 | |||
| 1-101 | Sam M | Milk | 42.50 |
| 1-101 | Sam M | Cleaning cloths | 35.00 |
| Posted on 12 Oct 2026 subtotal: | 77.50 | ||
| Petty cash total: | 77.50 | ||
Wages
Wages paid in cash from the till.
| Shift # | Cashier name | Description | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shift posted date: 12 Oct 2026 | |||
| 2-57 | Lee K | Casual dishwasher | 250.00 |
| Posted on 12 Oct 2026 subtotal: | 250.00 | ||
| Wages total: | 250.00 | ||

1 Control totals (incl tips)
The money actually received for that payment type. For card and other payment types it is the total entered at cashup from the card machine or payment provider's slips. For Cash Receipts it is worked out from the cashup: the cash counted, plus foreign currency at its exchange rate, less the start float, plus the cash that left the till during the shift (petty cash, GRVs, wages, driver and waiter floats and cash tips paid out).
2 POS totals (incl tips)
What the cashiers said was paid with that payment type when they settled each sale on the POS, tips included. It is shown as a minus because it is taken away from the control total.
3 Over under
Control totals less POS totals. A plus figure (orange) means more money was received than the POS expected: you were over. A minus figure (red) means you were under. When the two agree the cell reads Balanced (green). A common cause of an over in one payment type and an under in another is a sale settled on the wrong payment type at the till.
4 Payment types marked *
For some payment types the control total is not captured at cashup: it is filled in automatically with the POS total so the cashup balances. Those payment types carry a * and always show Balanced, and a note under the recon reminds you that they still need to be checked against what the payment provider actually paid into your bank.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a shift I cashed up missing?
The report only shows cashups that have been posted. Post the cashup and run the report again. Also check the shift's start date: a shift is included by the trading day it started, so a shift that started the day before your start date is left out even if it was posted inside the period.
Why is a shift listed under a later date than the day it traded?
Within each section, shifts are grouped by the day the cashup was posted. A shift that traded on Monday but was posted on Tuesday morning appears under Shift posted date: 13 Oct 2026. The Payment recon shows both the started and the posted date on every line.
Why doesn't the cash to be banked include my foreign currency?
Foreign notes are listed separately, per currency and in that currency, in the Foreign currency to be banked column. Bank them separately. In the Payment recon, foreign currency is converted at its exchange rate and counted as part of Cash Receipts.
My Cash Receipts line shows over or under. Where do I look?
Check the shift's cash count first, then everything paid out of the till during the shift: Petty cash, GRV's, Wages, Driver and waiter floats and Employee tips for the same shift number. A missing or double-captured slip, or a float that was issued but never paid back, shows up as an under or over in cash. Also look for a card or other payment type that is over or under by the same amount on the same shift: that usually means a sale was settled on the wrong payment type.
Why does a payment type say Balanced when I haven't checked it?
Payment types marked * are auto-balanced: their control total is set to the POS total because it isn't captured at cashup. They will always show Balanced. Check them against your payment provider's statement or bank deposits.
Why are my tips different from the tips on the slips?
A cash tip only counts on a driver or waiter order. A cash tip given to a cashier is not captured on the sale, so any tip amount on a cashier's cash payment is treated as change and left out. Tips on voided sales are left out too. Card and other non-cash tips always count.
Should this report match the Daily Cashup report?
Yes, for the same posted shifts. Run the Daily Cashup report for each trading day in your period: the cash to be banked, floats, expenses and payment recon of its posted shifts add up to this report. Shifts that aren't posted yet show on the Daily Cashup report but not here.
What does Unknown mean in the Cashier or Employee name column?
The person who owned the shift, or the person a tip belongs to, couldn't be matched to an employee in your store's setup, for example because their employee code was removed. The figures are still correct and included. Ask AuraPOS support if it keeps happening for the same person.
