Financial - Sales Channel Commissions

See what each sales channel that charges you commission really earns you. For every channel and trading day, the report compares what customers paid with what the same items cost at your normal menu prices, then takes off the commission you owe, so you can tell whether the channel's extra sales covered its fee. For store managers, franchisees and accountants.

Running the report

1
Open Reports and choose Sales Channel Commissions under Financial.
2
Set the Start date and the End date. Both start on today's date. Tick Show individual invoices only if you want to see every sale on its own line.
3
Run the report. The commission rates appear first, then one block for each sales channel with a line for every trading day (or every invoice), a subtotal for the channel and a total at the end.
TipRun a full month to see how each channel performed. If one day looks wrong, run just that day with Show individual invoices ticked and find the invoice.
Only channels with a commissionA sales channel appears only if a commission percentage has been set up for it in your brand. Channels with no commission, such as your own counter and tables, are not on this report.

Report options

Start date

The first trading day to include. The default is today. Change it to look at an earlier day or the start of a week or month.

End date

The last trading day to include. The default is today. The whole of this day is included, up to your close-of-trade time.

Show individual invoices

Switches between a summary and the detail behind it. The default is off, which gives one line per sales channel for each trading day. Ticked, you get one line for every invoice instead. The columns are the same either way and the totals agree, apart from a possible difference of a few cents from rounding.

Off: one line per sales channel per trading day (default)
On: one line per invoice

The top of the report always repeats your choice in the Selected parameters box as INDIVIDUAL INVOICES: Shown or Hidden.

Sales channel commissions report
Mon 05 Oct 2026 00:00    to    Wed 07 Oct 2026 23:59

The dates are the first and last trading day you picked. If your trading day ends at a time other than midnight, an asterisk follows the dates and a note at the bottom of each page explains your trading times. Under the heading, the Selected parameters box shows whether individual invoices are shown.

  1. Commission rates: each channel and the percentage it charges
  2. Sales by trading day: one line per channel per day, with a subtotal for each channel and a total (default)
  3. Individual invoices: the same figures with one line per invoice, when you tick Show individual invoices

You see either the second or the third part, never both.

Commission rates

At the top, the report lists every sales channel that charges you commission and its rate. These rates are set up for your brand, not per store.

Sales channel nameSales channel commission percentage
Delivery app20% of net sales (incl)
Pickup app10% of net sales (incl)

The commission is worked out on net sales including taxes, because that is how delivery platforms charge their fee.

Sales by trading day

For each sales channel, one line per trading day. Read each line from left to right: what customers paid, minus what the same items would have cost at your normal prices, equals the extra sales the channel brought in, minus the commission, equals your profit after fees.

1 A day with no extra sales

On Wed 07 Oct 2026 the Delivery app sales were R 1 000.00 excl, but the same items cost R 1 050.00 at your normal prices. The channel sold for less than your own menu, so there are no extra sales and the report shows 0.00, not a negative figure. You still owe the commission of R 230.00, so the profit is -230.00. The report never counts a bad day as negative extra sales.

2 The channel subtotal

Adds up every day of that channel. Over this period the Delivery app brought in R 1 300.00 of extra sales but cost R 1 610.00 in commission, a loss of R 310.00 after fees.

3 The total

All channels added together, for the whole period. A green profit figure means the channel's extra sales covered its fee on that line. A red figure means they did not.

The blue - and = signs
The blue signs above the headings show the sum: sales at normal menu price are taken off, which leaves the extra sales; commission is taken off, which leaves the profit after fees.
Number of sales
How many invoices were paid through that channel on that day.
Commission is on the including-taxes figureThe commission column is headed (excl) like the others, but the amount itself is the channel's percentage of Net sales (incl), the same amount the channel invoices you.

Individual invoices

When you tick Show individual invoices, the date and number of sales are replaced by the date and the invoice number. Every other column is the same, so you can find the exact sale behind a daily figure. This example shows the Pickup app on Tue 06 Oct 2026, the same day as in the previous section.

1 A single invoice can be negative

Invoice 1-2047 sold for less than your normal prices, so its extra sales are -10.00. The other invoices that day made up for it, so the day as a whole is positive and nothing is changed. Only when a whole day for a channel adds up below zero does the report show 0.00 for every invoice of that day.

2 Same as the daily line

The subtotal of these invoices equals the Pickup app line for Tue 06 Oct 2026 in the previous section.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a sales channel not appear on the report?

Only channels with a commission percentage above zero are listed, and only if they had at least one paid sale in your date range. Voided invoices are ignored. If a delivery app is missing, ask your head office to check that its commission percentage has been set up for your brand.

Why do the extra sales show 0.00 when I sold a lot through the channel?

Extra sales are what customers paid, less what the same items would have cost at your normal menu prices. If, for one channel on one trading day, customers paid less than your normal prices, the extra sales for that day are shown as 0.00 instead of a negative amount. The commission is still charged, so the profit after fees on that line is minus the commission.

Which menu price is used as the normal price?

The price of the same item on your brand's default sales channel, taken from the menu revision that was in force when the sale was made. If an item has no price on the default channel, the price the customer paid is used, so that item adds no extra sales.

How is the commission worked out?

It is the channel's percentage multiplied by the sale's Net sales (incl), the same way delivery platforms charge their fee. The amount is then compared with the excl figures to give the profit after fees.

Why is Net sales different from the Sales Detail report?

It should match the Net sales figure in Sales Detail: what was sold after discounts, without delivery charges. Both reports use the same trading day and exclude voided invoices. If a figure differs, run both for the same dates and compare the invoice numbers by ticking Show individual invoices.

Why does a sale after midnight show on the previous day?

The report groups sales by trading day. A sale made before your close-of-trade time belongs to the previous trading day. The note at the bottom of each page shows your trading times when they are not midnight.

Why are the totals a few cents different with and without individual invoices?

Each invoice is rounded to the cent on its own. In the summary, the amounts are added up first and rounded once. Over many invoices this can leave a difference of a few cents.

Does this report match the royalty reports?

Yes. When your brand deducts sales channel commissions from royalty sales, the royalty reports use the same extra sales figure, with the same zero floor for each channel and trading day.

The report shows only a message and no figures. Why?

Either your brand has no sales channel with a commission percentage set up (the message asks you to configure the commission percentages first), or none of those channels had a paid sale between the dates you picked (the message says there are no sales through a sales channel with a commission). Ask your head office to set up the commission percentages, or choose different dates.
