Report options
Select your start date / end date
The first and last trading day to include. Both days are included in full: the report runs from the start of the first day to the end of the last, so any time you see next to the date is ignored. Both default to today.
Select your grouping
How each store's sales are broken down.
- None
- One line per store (see Sales by store).
- Category
- Gross sales per menu category (see Category grouping).
- Date
- One line per trading day in the period, for example Mon 12 Oct 2026.
- Hour
- One line per hour of the day, for example 08-09 for sales from 08:00 to 08:59. The hours run from the first to the last hour in which the brand had sales.
- Sales channel
- One line per sales channel, such as in store or a delivery partner.
- Transaction type
- One line per type of sale your stores ring up.
Choose your preferred layout
Only used when the grouping isn't None. By store and then by grouping gives each store its own block (see By store and then by grouping). By grouping and then by store gives each date, hour, channel or category its own block with your stores listed under it, which makes it easy to compare stores for the same day or channel (see By grouping and then by store).
Show sales figures
Whether every rand figure on the report includes or excludes VAT. Your brand chooses which one is the default: it's always first in the list, marked (Brand default), and already selected when you open the report. If your brand has chosen exclusive, the list reads Exclusive (Brand default) and Inclusive.
Choose Inclusive to compare with your cash-ups and reconciliations, which count the money customers actually paid. Choose Exclusive to look at profitability, where VAT isn't your money. Every column heading and the chart heading say which one you're looking at: (incl) or (excl).
The report at a glance
The title follows your options: Sales by store report with no grouping, Sales by store by sales channel report in the by store layout, or Sales by sales channel by store report in the by grouping layout. The date line shows the trading days you chose, from the start of the first day to the end of the last. Above the table you'll see Last updated on Tue 20 Oct 2026 at 06:15: the report reads from a sales summary that is refreshed through the day, so sales made after that time aren't in yet.
- Sales by store: one line per store with gross sales, turnover and averages (grouping None).
- By store and then by grouping: a block per store, broken down by your grouping.
- By grouping and then by store: a block per date, hour, channel or type, with your stores under it.
- Category grouping: gross sales per menu category.
- The chart: a bar chart of the figures, on the last page.
Sales by store
With grouping None you get one line per store, in alphabetical order, under an All stores bar, with the brand's totals at the bottom.
| Store name (Store Id) | Gross sales (incl) 1 | Turnover (incl) | # Trans | Avg gross sales (incl) per invoice | Avg turnover (incl) per invoice 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| All stores | |||||
| Bob's Burgers Boardwalk (1003) | 98 215.60 | 92 417.80 | 774 | 126.89 | 119.40 |
| Bob's Burgers Times Square (1001) | 182 450.00 | 171 236.50 | 1 342 | 135.95 | 127.60 |
| Bob's Burgers Wharf (1002) | 126 380.40 | 118 904.20 | 951 | 132.89 | 125.03 |
| Totals for Bob's Burgers brand: 3 | 407 046.00 | 382 558.50 | 3 067 | 132.72 | 124.73 |
1 Gross sales and turnover
Gross sales is the value of the items sold before discounts. Turnover is what customers were charged: after discounts, including delivery charges. With Exclusive the headings read (excl) and VAT is taken out: Bob's Burgers Times Square's turnover would show as 148 901.30.
2 Averages per invoice
Gross sales or turnover divided by # Trans, the number of invoices (sales).
3 Brand totals
The totals add up every store. The averages on this line are the brand's totals divided by the brand's invoices, not an average of the store averages.
By store and then by grouping
With a grouping such as Sales channel and the layout By store and then by grouping, each store gets a block with one line per channel, then the store's totals. The brand's totals come after the last store.
| Sales channel | Turnover (incl) | # transactions | Avg turnover (incl) per invoice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bob's Burgers Times Square (1001) | |||
| In store | 98 410.30 | 812 | 121.19 |

1 Every store gets the same lines
Each store lists every date, hour, channel or type that any store in the brand had sales in. If a store had no sales on that line, the line is greyed out with 0.00 and n/a as the average, so the blocks always line up from store to store.
With Date the lines are trading days (Mon 12 Oct 2026), with Hour they are hours (08-09), and with Transaction type they are your transaction types. The figures work the same way.
By grouping and then by store
With the layout By grouping and then by store the report turns around: each date, hour, channel or type gets a block, with your stores under it in alphabetical order. Here the grouping is Date.
| Store name (Store Id) | Turnover (incl) | # transactions | Avg turnover (incl) per invoice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 12 Oct 2026 | |||
| Bob's Burgers Boardwalk (1003) 1 | 0.00 | 0 | n/a |
| Bob's Burgers Times Square (1001) | 22 140.50 | 174 | 127.24 |
| Bob's Burgers Wharf (1002) | 15 380.20 | 123 | 125.04 |
| Totals for Mon 12 Oct 2026: | 37 520.70 | 297 | 126.33 |
| … | … | … | … |
| Totals for Bob's Burgers brand: | 382 558.50 | 3 067 | 124.73 |
1 A store with no sales that day
Bob's Burgers Boardwalk is closed on Mondays, so its line is greyed out with n/a as the average. A store only appears on the report if it had at least one sale in the period you chose.
Category grouping
With Category each line is a menu category and the report shows gross sales only. The # transactions and average columns are left out.
| Category | Gross sales (incl) |
|---|---|
| Bob's Burgers Times Square (1001) | |
| Burgers | 96 220.00 |
| Desserts | 15 914.50 |
| Drinks | 38 410.50 |
| Sides | 31 905.00 |
| Totals for Bob's Burgers Times Square: | 182 450.00 |
Why gross sales only? Discounts and delivery charges are given on the whole invoice, not on a category, so turnover can't be split by category. One invoice often has items from several categories, so a count of invoices per category would count the same sale more than once. The store's total gross sales still matches the Gross sales column you'd see with grouping None.
The chart
The last page has a blue bar with the chart heading and a bar chart under it.
- Grouping None, or By store and then by grouping
- Turnover (incl) by store desc or Graph of turnover (incl) by store desc: one bar per store, biggest first.
- By grouping and then by store
- For example Graph of turnover (incl) by sales channel: one bar per date, hour, channel or type.
- Category
- The chart shows gross sales instead of turnover, and the heading says so.
If the chart would need more than 50 bars (for example Date over a few months), it isn't drawn and you'll see Graph contains too many rows to display. Choose a shorter period or a different grouping to see it.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't today's turnover match my till or cash-up?
The report reads from a sales summary that's refreshed through the day, so recent sales may not be in yet. Check Last updated on above the table. Also make sure Show sales figures is on Inclusive, because cash-ups count what customers paid including VAT.
Why is gross sales higher than turnover?
Gross sales is before discounts and turnover is after them, so discounts usually make turnover the lower figure. Turnover includes delivery charges, so a store with lots of delivery charges and few discounts can show turnover higher than gross sales.
Why is a store missing from the report?
A store only appears if it had at least one sale in the period you chose. Choose a period when the store was trading.
Why are some lines grey with n/a?
That store had no sales on that line, for example a day it was closed or a channel it doesn't use. The line is kept so every store's block has the same lines. The average shows n/a because there are no invoices to divide by.
Why can't I see the number of transactions with Category?
One invoice can have items from several categories, so counting invoices per category would count the same sale more than once. Turnover can't be split by category either, because discounts and delivery charges apply to the whole invoice. Category therefore shows gross sales only.
Why is the chart missing?
The chart is only drawn when it has 50 bars or fewer. With Date over a long period there are too many days; you'll see Graph contains too many rows to display instead.
Why is a late-night sale shown on the previous day?
Each day is a trading day that ends at your store's close of trade time. A sale at 00:30 belongs to the trading day before if your store trades past midnight. If your close of trade time was changed, sales recorded before the change keep the day they were given at the time.
Are exclusive figures exact?
Turnover excl matches the VAT on each store's invoices for the month very closely. Gross sales excl uses the same rate, so it's a very close estimate. If a store has no invoices to work from in a month, the brand's VAT for that month is used instead.
