Cashup - Daily Cashup
Updated Thu 22 Oct 2026
Running the report
Report options
Select date
The trading day to cash up. It defaults to today. The day runs from your store's close of trade time to close of trade the next day, in your store's local time. A shift belongs to the day it started, even if it was cashed up or posted after midnight.
Show highly detailed information
Ticked by default. When ticked, the report ends with the Cashup detail pages: every cash denomination counted, every float, tip, GRV, petty cash slip, wage and payment, per shift. Untick it when you only need the summary pages, for example to print a short copy for the file.

The report at a glance
The date line is the trading day in your store's local time. If your store's close of trade is not midnight, the line runs from close of trade to close of trade the next day (for example From Wed 21 Oct 2026 02:00 until Thu 22 Oct 2026 02:00 *) and a note at the foot of every page explains that sales between midnight and close of trade count towards the previous day. The footer also shows when the report was run and the report version.
- Sales summary: gross sales to turnover per shift, any action steps, and the day's total.
- Unpaid sales and late payments: sales still owing money, and older sales paid into today's shifts.
- Shop cash movement and banking: all shifts added together, with the cash to be banked and the day's KPIs.
- Shop payment recon and sales mix: every payment type counted against the POS, sales by transaction type and by sales channel, and the shop cashup notes.
- Shift cashup pages: the same cashup for each POS or waiter shift on its own page.
- Cashup detail: the line-by-line detail behind the cashup figures.
The examples below are Wednesday 21 October 2026 at Bob's Burgers Times Square, with two POS shifts: 1-215 (Sam M) and 2-88 (Lee K).

1 Status
Posted means the shift's cashup has been posted. Active (in red) means the shift is still open or not posted yet. Sales that have no shift yet and are still unpaid show on an Active line with shift number Not posted.
2 Successfully injected 3rd party aggregator sales
Orders from online ordering and delivery partners that reached your POS already paid (online, or on the partner's account) and that no cashup will ever claim. They are listed by sales channel and payment name so they still count in the day's sales. This block only appears when there are such sales.
3 Totals
The subtotals and the day's total add up every line. While any line is Active, the totals show n/a instead, because the day isn't finished.
Action steps required
Under the sales summary the report lists anything you still need to do, for example Complete and post the cashup for active shift number 2-88, You have some unpaid sales, please see the detail in the 'Unpaid sales for today' section, or a reminder to re-run the report after close of trade. When there is nothing to do, this list is not shown.
- Gross sales
- The value of the items sold before discounts.
- Discounts
- Discounts given on those sales.
- Net sales
- Gross sales less discounts.
- Delivery charges
- Delivery fees charged on the sales.
- Turnover
- Net sales plus delivery charges: what the customers were charged.
Unpaid sales and late payments
The rest of page 1 deals with money that was not settled on the day of the sale. There are four blocks; a block with nothing in it shows a one-line message such as * No unpaid sales from today *.
Unpaid sales for today
Sales from the trading day that still have money outstanding, with Inv date and time, Invoice #, Order #, Transaction type, Sales channel - Sales channel ref, a tick under Payment since received and the Current amount outstanding. A sale that has been paid since the end of the day turns green and is ticked. The invoice number is a link that opens the sale in the Invoice Audit report. Under the list, Action steps required asks you to take the outstanding payments and fulfil the orders, or void them with a reason if they were never paid. When everything has since been paid it says All of the above sales have since been paid.
Unpaid sales carried forward from before
The same list for older sales (from 1 August 2025 onwards) that are still unpaid, so they don't get forgotten.
Resolutions for unpaid sales from yesterday, and from before yesterday
Older sales that were paid into today's shifts. The first block is Regular payments for yesterday's sales, the second is Late payments for anything older.
| Invoice date and time Payment date and time | Invoice # Order # | Sales channel - Sales channel ref | Payment type | Paid into shift # | POS total payment | +tip payment | =total payment |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tue 20 Oct 26 at 21:05 Wed 21 Oct 26 at 12:10 | 1-1240 1-498 | Phone order | Card | 2-88 | 40.00 | 0.00 | 40.00 |
| Total payments received for sales from yesterday: | 40.00 | 0.00 | 40.00 | ||||
These payments are part of today's payment recon (they were paid into today's shifts) but not of today's sales, which is why your payments can be higher than your turnover.
Shop cash movement and banking
Page 2, left side: the cash for all the day's shifts added together. It only appears once every shift is posted.
| Cash movement summary | |
|---|---|
| Cash on hand (incl POS float) 1 | 5 405.00 |
| + Foreign currency converted to local | 0.00 |
| Subtract floats | |
| POS float at start of shift | -1 000.00 |
| Driver & waiter floats received | -200.00 |
| Add payments from till 2 | |
| Driver & waiter floats issued | 200.00 |
| Employee tips | 70.00 |
| GRV's | 350.00 |
| Petty cash | 77.50 |
| Wages paid | 250.00 |
| Equals cash receipts 3 | 5 152.50 |
| Cash banking slip | |
|---|---|
| Cash on hand | 5 405.00 |
| Less POS float left for next shift | -1 000.00 |
| Cash to be banked 4 | 4 405.00 |
| + Converted foreign currency to be banked | 0.00 |
1 Cash on hand
All the cash counted in the tills at cashup, floats included. Foreign notes are converted at the exchange rate captured at cashup and shown on the next line.
2 Add payments from till
Cash that left the tills during the day: floats handed to drivers and waiters, tips paid out to employees (card tips are paid out in cash too), deliveries paid for (GRVs), petty cash and wages. They are added back because that money was taken in as sales before it was paid out.
3 Equals cash receipts
The cash your customers paid during the day: 5 405.00 − 1 000.00 − 200.00 + 200.00 + 70.00 + 350.00 + 77.50 + 250.00 = 5 152.50. This is the Control totals figure for Cash Receipts in the payment recon.
4 Cash to be banked
Cash on hand less the float left in the tills for the next shift: 5 405.00 − 1 000.00 = 4 405.00. Foreign notes are banked on top of this.
KPI's
Under the cash summary: Number of voided invoices and their value, Number of voided items and their value, Total voids value, Voids as % of gross sales (+voids), Delivery charge value and Delivery charges as % of gross sales, Discounts value and Discounts as % of gross sales, Number of sales and Average sale value. The KPIs count only sales that belong to a POS or waiter cashup, so the injected aggregator sales are not in them. In the example: 46 sales and an average sale of 226.30 (10 410.00 ÷ 46).

Payment recon for payments received today
| Payment types | Control totals (incl tips) 1 | −POS totals (incl tips) 2 | =Over/under 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manual payments | |||
| Cash Receipts | 5 152.50 | 5 150.00 | 2.50 |
| Card | 4 530.00 | 4 530.00 | Balanced |

| Zapper § 4 | 840.00 | 840.00 | Balanced |
| Total payments: | 10 522.50 | 10 520.00 | 2.50 |
1 Control totals (incl tips)
The money actually received. For card and other payment types it is the total entered at cashup from the card machine or provider's slips. For Cash Receipts it is the Equals cash receipts figure from the cash movement summary.
2 POS totals (incl tips)
What the cashiers settled on the POS with each payment type, tips included, for every payment received in today's shifts. That includes late payments for older sales.
3 Over/under
Control totals less POS totals. A plus figure (orange background) means more money was received than the POS expected: you are over. A minus figure (red background) means you are under. When they agree the cell reads Balanced (green).
4 Payment types marked §
Their control total was not captured at cashup, so it was filled in with the POS total to balance the cashup. A note at the bottom of the shop cashup reminds you to check them against what the payment provider actually paid. Sales collected on an aggregator's account that no shift claimed are listed here too, as Account - <sales channel>, also marked §.
Sales by transaction type and Sales by sales channel
| Invoice type | # Sales | Turnover | Contrib % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery | 10 | 3 115.00 | 28.5% |
| Eat in | 18 | 4 210.00 | 38.5% |
| Take away | 21 | 3 600.00 | 33.0% |
| Total: | 49 | 10 925.00 |
| Sales channel | # Sales | Turnover | Contrib % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Counter Sale | 30 | 6 210.00 | 56.8% |
| Online ordering † | 3 | 515.00 | 4.7% |
| Phone order | 16 | 4 200.00 | 38.4% |
| Total: | 49 | 10 925.00 |
Both tables split the day's turnover (all of the day's sales, including the injected aggregator sales) and show each line's share. A sales channel run by an integration partner is marked †, with a note asking you to check the provider's statement to make sure all its sales reached the POS.
Shop cashup notes
One line in colour: This SHOP cashup balances. (green), or This SHOP cashup is over by R 2.50 (orange) or under by (red), using the payment recon total, followed by the § and † notes when they apply.
Shift cashup pages
After the shop cashup there is one page per shift, headed POS cashup summary for shift 1-215 (or Waiter cashup summary for shift …) with the cashier's name. Each page repeats the shop layout for that shift only:
- Cash movement summary and Cash banking slip, as in Shop cash movement and banking. Foreign currency is shown per currency, for example USD 20.00, EUR 10.00 = and the converted amount.
- Shift information: Shift started time, Shift ended time, Shift duration, Shift posted time, POS name and Device type, for example 21 Oct 2026 07:58. A waiter cashup has no shift end time or duration.
- Payment recon, Sales by transaction type and Sales by sales channel for the shift.
- Cashup notes: This POS cashup balances. (or is over or under), plus any note the cashier typed in when cashing up.
For shift 1-215 in the example: cash on hand 3 845.00, start float −500.00, floats received −200.00, floats issued 200.00, tips 55.00, GRVs 350.00, petty cash 42.50, wages 250.00, so cash receipts 4 042.50 and cash to be banked 3 345.00. Shift 2-88 has cash receipts 1 110.00 and cash to be banked 1 060.00. Together they make the shop figures.
A shift that isn't posted yet shows only Please complete and then post this POS cashup before viewing this cashup report.
Cashup detail
The last pages, shown when Show highly detailed information is ticked and every shift is posted. Each block lists the lines behind one figure of the cash movement summary, grouped per shift (Shift number: 1-215 Cashier: Sam M) with a subtotal per shift and a total. A block with nothing in it says * No detail *.
| Denomination | Quantity | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Shift number: 1-215 Cashier: Sam M | ||
| 200.00 | 12 | 2 400.00 |

| 50.00 | 7 | 350.00 |
| 5.00 | 19 | 95.00 |
| Shift number 1-215 subtotal: | 3 845.00 | |
| Cash on hand total: | 3 845.00 | |
- Cash on hand
- Every note and coin counted, highest denomination first. The total is the Cash on hand line.
- POS floats
- POS float at start of shift lines (plus) and POS float left for next shift lines (minus). The total is the net float.
- Driver and waiter floats
- Issued to <name> lines (plus) and <name> returned float lines (minus). When every float came back, the total is 0.00.
- Employee tips
- Grouped per employee, one line per shift. A tip goes to the driver or waiter on the order; if there is none, to the person who rang up the sale. The total matches the Employee tips line.
- Goods received vouchers (GRV)
- Supplier, GRV # and amount of each delivery paid from the till.
- Petty cash
- Each petty cash slip with its description.
- Wages paid
- Grouped per employee, one line per shift.
- Payments
- Every payment taken in each shift, grouped by Payment method: Inv date and time, Pmt date and time, Invoice # (a link to Invoice Audit), Order #, Paid into shift #, Tip paid to, then POS total payment + tip payment = total payment, with dates such as Wed 21 Oct 26 18:31. The subtotal per payment method matches the POS totals in the shift's payment recon.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the report say Pending finalisation and hide the shop cashup?
At least one shift for the day is still active: it is open, or it was cashed up but not posted. The Action steps required list names the shift. Post its cashup and run the report again. The shop cashup, the totals and the detail pages come back once every shift is posted.
A shift traded past midnight. Which day is it on?
A shift belongs to the trading day it started, using your store's close of trade time. A shift that starts at 17:00 on Wednesday and is posted at 00:40 on Thursday is on Wednesday's report, with all its cash, tips, notes and payments.
Why are my payments higher than my turnover?
The payment recon counts every payment taken in today's shifts, including late payments for older sales (see Resolutions for unpaid sales) and tips. Turnover only counts today's sales. In the example, 10 410.00 turnover + 70.00 tips + 40.00 paid for yesterday's sale = 10 520.00 POS totals.
Cash Receipts is over or under. Where do I look?
Check the shift's cash count first, then everything paid out of the till: petty cash, GRVs, wages, driver and waiter floats and tips in the detail pages for the same shift. A missing or double-captured slip, or a float that was never paid back, shows up as an over or under in cash. A card line that is over or under by the same amount usually means a sale was settled on the wrong payment type.
Why does a payment type marked § always balance?
Its control total isn't captured at cashup, so it is set to the POS total. Check it against your payment provider's statement or bank deposit.
Why is a cash tip on a counter sale not counted?
A cash tip to a cashier is handed over directly and is never captured on the sale, so any tip amount on a cashier's cash payment is change, not a tip. A cash tip on a driver or waiter order does count, because the driver or waiter hands in all the cash and is paid the tip from the till. Card and other non-cash tips always count. Tips on voided sales are left out.
Why don't the KPIs match the sales summary total?
The KPIs count only sales that belong to a POS or waiter cashup. Injected aggregator sales that no shift claims are in the sales summary and the sales mix tables, but not in Number of sales or Average sale value.
Should this report match the Consolidated Cashup report?
Yes, for posted shifts. The Consolidated Cashup report adds up the same cash, floats, expenses and payment recon over several days, grouped by the day each cashup was posted. Shifts that aren't posted show here but not there.
What does Unknown mean as a cashier or tip name?
The person couldn't be matched to an employee in your store's setup, or (for a tip) the payment isn't linked to a sale. The amounts are still correct and included. Ask AuraPOS support if it keeps happening.
