Employee tips report
Mon 19 Oct 2026 00:00 to Sun 25 Oct 2026 23:59

The dates are your trading days. The period starts at your close of trade time on the first day and ends at your close of trade time after the last day. If your close of trade time is not midnight, the dates carry a star (*) and a note at the bottom of each page explains that sales made between midnight and your close of trade time count towards the previous trading day.

  1. Tips in detail: one line for every payment that carried a tip, with a subtotal for each payment type and a grand total for each employee.
  2. The summary: one line per employee with their tips and average tip percentage, then a total.
  3. Who gets a tip: how the report decides which employee a tip belongs to.

Tips in detail

Under Full detail every payment that included a tip gets its own line. Lines are grouped by employee, then by payment type, so you can see for each person how much came in as cash and how much on cards. Employees print in alphabetical order, and so do the payment types under each employee.

1 Employee

The employee the tips are credited to, shown as the employee's role for that tip (Driver or Cashier), their name and, in brackets, the name they use at the till when it differs. See Who gets a tip.

2 Payment type

How the customer paid, using your store's payment method names. Cash shows as Cash Receipts. Payments put on a customer account show as Account followed by the sales channel.

3 Shift #

The till and shift the sale was cashed up on, for example 1-12. Not cashed up means the sale has not been through a cashup yet (for example today's trade). It moves to its real shift number by itself once it is cashed up, and its tip stays in the figures. A shift that has not been posted yet shows Not posted after the till number, and its figures can still change until it is posted.

4 Subtotals and grand total

Each payment type has a subtotal and each employee has a grand total of POS total payment (what the sale was paid, before the tip), + Tip payment and = Total payment (the two added together).

Transaction date & time
When the sale was rung up, at your store's local time.
Payment date & time
When the payment was taken. For a sale paid later (a delivery paid on arrival, for example) this is later than the transaction time.
Invoice number
Click it to open the invoice and see everything on the sale.
Order number
The order number the customer or kitchen saw.
Voided and cancelled salesOnly completed sales count. A tip on a voided or cancelled sale, or on a payment that was declined or never completed, is not shown.

The summary

At the bottom of the report (or on its own when you tick Only show the summary) is a short table with one line per employee and a total for everyone.

Summary
Employee nameTipsAverage tip %
Cashier - Alex Morgan (Alex)24.0010%
Driver - Sam Taylor (Sam)78.0015%
Total102.0014%
Tips
All the tips credited to that employee in the period.
Average tip %
The employee's tips divided by what their tipped customers paid before the tip, as a whole percentage. In the example Sam's 78.00 on 515.50 of sales is 15%. It only looks at sales that carried a tip, so it is not a percentage of all of the employee's sales. If there is nothing to divide by it shows 0%.

Who gets a tip

Every tip is credited to one employee, decided sale by sale in this order:

1
The driver or waiter on the order, if the order has one. This is true even when the driver works at another store, for example a shared head-office login.
2
Otherwise the cashier who rang up that particular sale, not whoever owns the till shift.
3
If neither can be worked out, the tip is shown under Unknown so you can see it and look into it.
Cash tipsA cash tip counts only when the order has a driver or waiter, because a driver hands over all the cash he collected including his tips and the till records the tips for him. When a cashier is paid in cash, the tip is handed over directly and is never recorded against the sale, so any extra amount on a cashier's cash payment is change, not a tip, and it is left out. Card and other non-cash tips always count.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a cash tip not on the report?

Cash tips are only reported when the order has a driver or waiter. A cash tip given to a cashier is handed over directly and is not recorded by the till, so it cannot appear. If a driver's cash tip is missing, check that the driver was on the order and that the cashup is in the period you chose.

Why is a tip under the cashier and not the driver (or the other way round)?

If the order has a driver or waiter, the tip goes to them. If it has none, it goes to the cashier who rang up the sale. Check the order on the invoice to see who was assigned.

What does Not cashed up mean in the Shift column?

The sale has not been through a cashup yet, for example today's trade. Its tip is still included and it moves to its real shift number once it is cashed up. A tip on a sale that was never cashed up is still counted when the sale date falls in your period.

Why do the tips here differ from the tips on the cashup reports?

This report also includes sales that are not cashed up yet and cashups that have not been posted. The cashup reports only show what is in the cashup. This report is the wider one, so it can show more.

Why does an employee show as Unknown?

The report could not match the employee on the sale to a current employee, for example because the employee was removed or the code was reused. The tip is still counted so no money is lost. Check the invoice, or contact AuraPOS support if it happens often.

Why is a tip I know about missing?

Check that the sale was completed (not voided or cancelled), that it falls in your trading days (look at your close of trade time) and that it is at this store. If it still does not appear, contact AuraPOS support with the invoice number.

What does the average tip % mean?

It is an employee's tips divided by what their tipped customers paid before the tip. It only covers sales that carried a tip, so it is higher than the share of all sales that tipped.

Can I see the sale behind a tip?

Yes. Click the invoice number on the line to open the invoice.
