# Menu - Menu Item Prices

See every menu item with its price on every sales channel, with and without tax, and how each channel's price compares with your default price. It also highlights the items that are new or whose price changed compared with the previous menu. For store managers, franchisees and head office.

Updated Mon 2 Nov 2026

## Running the report

1

Open **Reports** and choose **Menu item prices** under **Menu**.

2

Pick the menu you want to look at in **Select a menu**.

3

Run the report. You get one box per menu item, listing its price on each of your sales channels, grouped by category grouping and category.

**Check a menu before it goes live**Pick a draft or scheduled menu to see exactly which prices will change and which items are new, before anyone approves it.

## Report options

### Select a menu

The menu whose prices you want to see. The list shows your most recent menus. Menus that are still drafts, or approved but not yet scheduled, are listed first, then the rest from newest to oldest. Each entry shows the menu name and its status, for example **Current Live Menu Since …**, **Old Menu From … until …**, **Draft** or **Scheduled for activation on …**. If your store uses a menu profile other than the default, the profile name is added at the end.

Spring Menu - Current Live Menu Since Mon 05 Oct 26 at 06:00

Spring Menu - Draft

Winter Menu - Old Menu From Mon 03 Aug 26 at 06:00 until Mon 05 Oct 26 at 06:00

The report always lists prices for the menu you pick, and compares them with the menu before it. There are no other options.

Menu item prices

The header shows your brand and store and the report title. The report has no date range: it shows the menu you picked, not a period of trading.

1. [Menu and highlights](https://help.aurapos.com/en/article/menu-menu-item-prices#menu): which menu you are looking at, and a count of new and changed items.
2. [Prices per item](https://help.aurapos.com/en/article/menu-menu-item-prices#prices): category groupings, categories, and a box per item with a price line per sales channel.

## Menu and highlights

Under the header, **Selected parameters** repeats the menu you chose. Below it, three short lines summarise the menu.

### 1 Selected menu

The name and status of the menu the report was run for.

### 2 New items

How many items appear on this menu that were not on the previous menu. They are printed in green. A "new" price can also mean an existing item was added to a sales channel for the first time.

### 3 Changed items

How many items have a different price from the previous menu. They are printed in orange. The count is of item and sales channel prices that changed.

## Prices per item

Items are grouped under a grey **Category Grouping** band and then a **Category** band, in the same order as on your CounterPOS buttons. The category band and the border of each item box use the colours of the matching CounterPOS buttons. Inside each box, every sales channel gets one line.

### 1 Category groupings and categories

Hover over an item name on screen to see its description. Each **Category Grouping** starts a new grey band, followed by its categories. The column headings repeat under every category and at the top of every page.

### 2 Sales channel lines

Every item lists every enabled sales channel. Your default sales channel is always the first line and is marked **(default price)**. Long channel names are shortened with three dots.

### Price (excl) and Price (incl)

**Price (excl)** is the menu price before tax. **Price (incl)** is that price plus the tax rates set on the item. Both are shown in your currency to two decimals.

### 3 % change from default price

How much more or less the channel's **Price (incl)** is than the default sales channel's **Price (incl)**. The default channel's own line is blank. A positive figure means the channel charges more than your default price, a negative figure means less. The figure shows one decimal, for example **\-33.3%**. On screen, hover over a figure to see it in words, for example "This price is 20.0% more than the default price."

### 4 Orange: changed

The mock above shades changed and new lines so they stand out. On the real report the text itself is printed in orange. The channel's price is different from the previous menu. The previous menu is the one before this one in the same menu profile, where this item was last priced on this channel.

### 5 Grey and struck through: not on this channel

The item has no price on that sales channel in this menu. The zeros are placeholders, not real prices. Customers cannot order the item on that channel.

### 6 Optional items

Optional items are items your store can switch on or off. Next to the item name, **Optional item - enabled at this store** (green) or **Optional item - disabled at this store** (red) tells you whether your store currently sells it.

### 7 Green: new

The item (or the item on that channel) did not exist on the previous menu. On the real report the text is printed in green.

Colours of the item box

The border colour copies the item's button colour in CounterPOS. Items and categories with a white button are shown in light grey.

**Tax rates are today's rates**Price (incl) uses the tax rates currently set on each item, even when you look at an old menu. If a tax rate was changed after that menu was live, the old menu shows today's tax, not the tax at the time.

## Frequently asked questions

Why are some lines grey with a line through them and zeros?

That item is not priced on that sales channel in the menu you picked. The 0.00 figures are placeholders. If you expected the item on that channel, add it to the channel in the menu editor.

Why does the % change column show 0.0% on a struck-through line or when the default price is missing?

The comparison is only meaningful when both the channel and your default sales channel have a price. When the default channel has no price for the item, or the item is not on the channel, treat the figure as not applicable.

An item is marked green but it has been on our menu for months. Why?

Green means the item was not on the previous menu in the same menu profile. If you moved the item to a different category, or it was only priced on one sales channel before, it can show as new on the channels where it is new.

Why does the report say nothing changed when I changed a price?

Only the price before tax is compared. A change that only affects tax, and menus that were saved with the same price as before, are not counted as changes. Make sure you picked the menu that contains your change, not the live menu from before it.

Why does Price (incl) not match what my customer is charged?

Price (incl) is calculated from the menu price and the tax rates set on the item today. Discounts, optional modifiers and rounding rules at the till are not included. If the tax on the item was changed recently, check the item's tax setup.

Why is the sales channel name cut short?

Names longer than 16 characters are shortened to fit the column, for example "Aura Mobile Orde...".

What do the small grey numbers in the footer mean?

They identify the menu the report was run for. Quote them if you contact AuraPOS support about this report.

Why does the footer talk about trading days?

That note is the same on every AuraPOS report. This report does not use dates, so you can ignore it.
